Manny Pacquiao x Nike Trainer 1 – Lights Out

Who doesn’t know Manny Pacquiao? He is the man responsible for bringing home prestige to his country for being named as the “Best Pound-for-Pound Boxer” in the arena! After winning repetitively in the past (the last one being with Ricky Hatton), the “PacMan” gave Nike an idea of introducing the Nike Trainer 1 in red and gold. This sneaker depicts a strong punch of Pacquiao giving the Lights Out edition a stronger punch of appeal for those in search for authentic comfort.

This is released only last September at Nike’s flagship store just a few months after the knocked-out fight on May2 of this year! This is such a big “wow” for Filipinos since Nike gave away about 100 pairs to friends.

They’re extremely limited and you can only grab one pair per person. You can make up for it, however, by coping up to the personal limit of 3 ‘PACMAN KNOWS’ tee shirts. This will cost you only $350.

Prince Charles visits Burberry

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Prince Charles and Christopher Bailey
It received its very own day in New York, and now, British brand Burberry has received the royal seal of approval as Prince Charles visited its new Horseferry House headquarters yesterday morning.

The heir to the throne met up with creative director Christopher Bailey and chief executive officer Angela Ahrendts, who were on hand to give the Prince a royal tour of the 160,000 square foot building. It’s a good job Burberry’s infamous checkered lifts were on hand, otherwise there may have been a slight problem.

As well as a tour of the building, Charles had a look through the fashion house’s 153 year old archives and met up with the 850 strong workforce.

HRH told the workers “I fear I’ve caused complete and utter confusion. I’ve probably ruined your production targets for the day – I seem to spend my life doing that!” reported WWD.

Regardless of Charles’ interruption on the production line, Christopher Bailey was still on hand to present a gabardine walking jacket and an iconic trademark cheque cashmere scarf to the Royal.

Considering Burberry made the FTSE 100 in September and is estimated to be worth £2 billion, we’re sure Bailey and co didn’t find it too hard to part with a few freebies. Well, that’s what we will be telling ourselves when we march round to Burberry HQ to claim ours.

Victoria Beckham to design handbags?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Victoria Beckham
It’s fair to say Victoria Beckham has found her thing with fashion, and rumour has it the style-icon-turned-designer is planning to expand her VB line to include handbags and shoes.

We can’t say we’re surprised, she’s built up quite a collection. Apparently, the decision to design handbags came about after Victoria said she was tired of being a walking advertisement.

“Victoria is tired of promoting other brands,” a friend told Grazia. “If she wears Christian Louboutin or Hermès people go and buy it. She thought, ‘Why can’t I do this with my own line?’”

It’s a no brainer for the businesswoman, really. Given the success of her VB dress line – which has been seen on the likes of Elle Macpherson, Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale – a handbag and shoe collection is sure to be as sought after – and let’s face it, with 100 Hermès handbags in her wardrobe, Ms. Beckham knows a thing or two about beautiful bags.

No details have been announced yet, so we’ll be listening out very carefully for more updates.

PPQ designer swimming caps

Friday, October 30th, 2009

PPQ designer swimming caps
Cult British fashion label PPQ have teamed up with the Schweppes Abbey-Well ‘Get Britain Sch…wimming’ campaign to design a range of one-off stylish swimming caps. We never thought we’d see the day…

In a bid to get people swimming, PPQ have designed four swimming caps influenced by British heritage which represent four distinct British fashion eras – Punk, 50’s Britain, Rockabilly and Royal – and the result is nothing short of a swimming sensation.

“We looked at classic British style and sub-cultures and aimed to capture this nostalgic theme on the swimming caps by using classic fabrics such as gingham, fun-sun pastels and iconography from the monarchy and punk period,” said PPQ’s co-founder Amy Molyneaux.

Carlie Lawrence, senior brand manager at Schweppes Abbey-Well, added, “it makes perfect sense for us to collaborate with PPQ, the nation’s most cutting-edge label. They’ve transformed one of the most famously mundane items of sportswear into four works of art.”

Ranging from rubber and studs on the Punk cap to gingham and lace on the Rockabilly, the exclusive swimming caps are set to be a unique piece of fashion history.

PPQ are certainly doing their bit in encouraging exercise – first it was their range with Adidas, and now it’s these swimming caps. We’re just faced with one problem; all the designs seem too good to wear to the pool…

The exclusive PPQ caps will be available through a charity auction on eBay, where all money raised will go to the Swimming Trust.
